Harrisburg Police looking for individuals after four shot during party

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) - Four adults were shot at an after-hours party early Sunday morning in Harrisburg, according to Harrisburg Communications Director Matt Maisel and Harrisburg Police. Three remain in the hospital, police said Monday morning.

The shooting happened around the 2300 block of Woodlawn Street around 3 a.m. When police arrived, officers found multiple shell casings and a large number of people at the location.

An investigation was initiated and it was determined that a party was being held at the location on Woodlawn Street. Police have said that an altercation took place and shots were fired during the incident.

"[The] crime scene was pretty large, pretty extensive," Lt. Kyle Gautsch said. "It's our understanding that this business has been, has a history of having these type of activities there."

Police have said that the condition of those who were shot range from non-life threatening injuries to some of the victims being critically injured. On Monday, police said one victim was released from the hospital and another was in stable condition. The other two remain in critical condition but are expected to recover.

Gautsch said it is difficult to prevent these types of incidents because "after-hours" parties like this one are pop up quickly and spread through social media. He said even if police shut one location down, parties can easily find another space. However, he said it is the best way to keep people safe.

"Bullets can travel anywhere, and that's where it's obviously concerning to the residents up there as well, quiet neighborhood, quiet community. Those bullets can travel through a window, through a wall," he said.

Police are still investigating the shooting.

"We've gotten some cooperation from witnesses as well as received some anonymous tips and whatnot," Gautsch said.

Gautsch said detectives are still reviewing video and other evidence. They believe about 100 people were at the party, so they are encouraging more witnesses to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Harrisburg Police at 717-558-6900.

Police said in an update on Oct. 5 that the people pictured below are considered suspects or people of interest in the shooting/firearms investigation.
