Praised as “a magnificent piece of crime fiction” and “an ingenious novel within a novel” by Sunday Times (London), Magpie Murders topped multiple best-seller lists. The MASTERPIECE adaptation by its author, Anthony Horowitz, is a beguiling murder mystery with a solution that both shocks and astonishes its viewers!

The plot of Magpie Murders revolves around the character Susan Ryeland, editor of the difficult author Alan Conway. Shortly after he turns in his latest Atticus Pünd blockbuster, Alan died under suspicious circumstances. Plus, the manuscript is missing a crucial piece – its last chapter!

Susan is left with two mysteries – what happened to Alan and how does his last book, titled Magpie Murders, end? The investigation takes place in the here and now, and in the fictional world of Atticus Pünd set in 1955.

In a clever blend of past and present, fact and fiction, Susan learns that Alan thinly disguised real people in his books – usually to enact literary revenge. Several of the actors in the show portray characters in Atticus’ world as well as in the real, here-and-now investigation led by Susan.
