Tractor-trailer fire closing all lanes of US-30 in York County

YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) -- A tractor-trailer full of paper that caught on fire is closing all lanes on US Route 30 in York County, according to PennDOT spokesperson Fritzi Schreffler.

The fire started just after 6:30 p.m. on the eastbound lanes of US-30 between Alwine Avenue and the exit for US-30 east to I-83 Lancaster. Fire crews and police are on the scene.

Schreffler said the road may be damaged, and as of 10:30 p.m., the tractor-trailer is still smoldering. No other vehicles were involved in the fire, but nearby buildings may have possible damage, Schreffler says.

As of 10:30 p.m., all lanes are still closed. It is not clear at this time what caused the fire but Schreffler believes the scene could remain active past midnight.

The York County Coroner's Office was not called to the scene.
